The Kelly Ball Apparatus is a simple penetration device for measuring the workability of fresh concrete. It is particularly suited to the quick checking of fresh concrete at the job site, either as placed in formwork or in suitable containers such as a hopper or wheelbarrow. The apparatus consists of a 30 lb. (14 kg) cylindrical weight, a frame assembly into which the ball is set, and a handle graduated in increments of 1/4" (6.35 mm).
